My name is Rina Fitria, I am 21 years old. I am a student at Oklahoma State University. Unfortunately, March 2007 I was diagnosed with Non Hodgkins Lymphoma, Diffuse Large B-Cell, Stage II. Ever since, I have undergone four different type of chemotherapy regimen with the possibility of a bone marrow trasnplant soon with the hopes of a cure down the road...
For the past year and a half my life has changed forever. At the age of nineteen years old and in the middle of my college education I was given the news that I have cancer. I went to the doctor thinking that I have a really bad cold or food allergies, but I never thought of cancer. I didnt think that someone at my age could get cancer and especially since I was always in good health growing up. I was definitley not prepared for it.
I started with radiation at the St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa right after diagnosis because the tumor was so large that it was pressing down on my lungs making me unable to breath. The radiation was sucessful in making it smaller but not enough to get rid of it. I started R-CHOP chemo regimen for six months but the tumor were resistant and my survival rate went down. Ever since, I have tried many types of chemo regimen and none have worked to cure me. I am currently on EPOCH and awaiting to hear about when I will get my bone marrow transplant. I have been doing treatment for a year and a half and although I am young and have tried my best to fight, I know that my body is wearing down and the side effects of the drugs have taken a toll on my body. I know that God has a plan for me and I know He hears my prayers and I know that the strength and power and also the reason that I am still here is because of Him.
